MLTC CELEBRATES International Women’s Day (IWD)

To commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) on the 8th of March. The Pacific conference of Churches held a “Regional Theologian- Feminists Dialogue” at the Methodist Lay Training Centre (MLTC) with 32 participants in total.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be able to celebrate and also create awareness around IWD with the 4 member churches of PCC in Fiji. IWD is a global celebration that highlights the achievement of women championing economic, cultural, political, and social causes worldwide and began in 1908 after 15,000 women marched in New York City demanding voting rights, better pay, and shorter work hours. As each decade finds a new way to advocate for women’s rights around the globe, IWD has been at the forefront of reminding people how far we’ve come and the work that still remains.

The IWD movement seats in well with this activity. Our theme for this event “EVAWG- Your story is My Story in Times of Covid-19” reflect women’s stories

throughout our Pacific communities whether in the homes, communities, churches, offices etc and the stories are increasing in this Pandemic because of frustrations emanating from lockdown.
